I was struggling with drawing shades and highlights but this warmup allowed me to incorporate value into my works of art. It taught me how to draw a sphere and I got to work with pastels, which I have not used before. I would definitely like to use pastels again. Composition- The placement of visual elements in a work of art Value- Element of a design that defines the light and dark shades in a work of art Pen: Pros- It did not smear, bold Cons- Hard to tell the difference between shade and hue, could not fix mistakes
Pencil: Pros- Easy to use, easy to erase Cons- Creates streaks on paper, harder to blend Charcoal: Pros- Easy to show highlights and shadows Cons- Smudges easily 1/31/2017 0 Comments Loving vincent van goghThe work of art that inspires me is done by multiple artists. Directors Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman created a film called "Loving Vincent" about the life of Vincent Van Gogh portrayed through over 62,000 hand painted frames done by 115 professional oil painters. The film will include 94 paintings created by Van Gogh himself. This motion picture has taken almost six years to create. Director Hugh Welchman was born in 1975 in the United Kingdom and has won an Academy Award for Best Short Animated Film- Peter and the Wolf.
This was interesting to me because Vincent Van Gogh is well known for his art but most people do not know much of his backstory. The trailer drew me in, causing me to want to learn more about his personal life. Also, Vincent Van Gogh died at age 37 due to suicide; I would like to find out more about why he died at such an early age. The paintings are colorful, intricate, and animated- giving it a life-like appeal to the reader. The art flows so well that it does not look like it was painted by hand.
